Shade matching that finally works for us.

Your skin tone deserves better than a guess. We use calibrated colour science, built first for Type V and VI skin, to find your foundation match accurately.

How it works

Three steps. About 60 seconds. Actual accuracy.

01

Check your light

We check your ambient lighting before anything else. Bad light means a wrong match, so we will tell you to move if we need to. No scanning in dim rooms or harsh direct light.

02

Calibrate your colour

Hold our colour reference card next to your face. It strips out lighting bias the way professional photographers do. No other beauty app does this step.

03

Get your matches

We sample your skin in LAB colour space and return your top 3 foundation matches, each with an exact colour distance score so you know how good the match really is.

Built different. On purpose.

Most shade-matching apps measure two things: lightness and warmth. That is not enough to capture the richness of Type V and VI skin. We also measure saturation and chroma, which is what makes deep skin look rich rather than ashy.

Our shade database starts with the brands that actually get it right, before going anywhere else.

Calibrated, not estimated

Colour cards strip out lighting bias before we even start sampling. No other app does this.

Honest about limits

If your lighting is bad, we say so. We would rather tell you to move than give you a wrong result.

Common questions

Why do existing apps get it wrong for dark skin?

Two reasons. Most were trained on datasets that skew lighter. And they only measure lightness and warmth. Type V and VI skin has richness that comes from saturation and chroma as well. We measure all four parameters, which is what makes the difference between a match that looks right and one that reads ashy or purple under different lights.

What is the calibration card?

It is a printed or on-screen colour reference you hold next to your face while scanning. Professional photographers use them to get accurate colour under any lighting. We borrowed the technique because lighting is the main reason shade matching fails for dark skin. You can print ours or use the on-screen version.

Is my photo data safe?

Yes. Scan photos are stored encrypted and tied only to your account. They are automatically deleted after 30 days unless you choose to keep them. We never share photos with third parties. You can download or delete all your data from your account settings at any time. GDPR from day one.

What brands are in the database?

We seed the database with melanin-friendly brands first: Fenty Beauty, Black Opal, Juvia's Place, Pat McGrath Labs, and Beauty Bakerie. Mass-market brands come after we get the foundations right.
